Paolo Petrangeli was born in Norcia, Italy in 1985. He moved to Rome where he graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts. Dream-like environments characterise his paintings, inhabited by characters with delicate features typical of childhood, with a sensitive and nostalgic soul but with the sensitive and wistful disenchantment typical of adulthood. The imaginary that affects the art of Petrangeli ranges from horror movies to Japanese role-playing games like Final Fantasy and especially anime and manga. About the success of Pop Surrealism he declares that “this artistic flow is enjoyable by everyone and immediate. In a historic period like ours there is a need to take refugee in something that leaves you the chance to dream”. The poetics of Paolo’s works have found great admirers mainly in France and in the United States and he’s featured in private collections of international big names of this artistic flow.
