Diana Sudyka (pronounced soo-dee-kah. It’s Polish, by the way) is an illustrator from Chicago that creates for a broad range of areas: editorial, book, album art and screen printed gigposters. Musicians that she has created work for include: Andrew Bird, St. Vincent, The Black Keys, Iron & Wine, The Decemberists, and Modest Mouse. She has illustrated several volumes of the award winning children’s book series “The Mysterious Benedict Society” by Trenton Lee Stewart, and more recently featured in Gigposters Volume 1: Rock Show Art of the 21st Century (Quirk Books),Illustrators Unlimited The Essence of Contemporary Illustration (Gestalten Press), and New Ornamental Type by Steven Heller and Gail Anderson. Rachel Frankel is a freelance illustrator and graphic designer based in Oakland, California. Her interests lie primarily within the realms of editorial & book illustration, surface design, and hand-lettering. She blogs frequently about her process as well as about other illustrators, designers and typographers she admires. In addition to artmaking, she plays guitar and sings in a band called Phosphene. Her love of music often finds its way into her illustrations, especially in her portrait series of favorite songwriters–including Neko Case, Sharon Van Etten, Kathleen Hanna and The National.
