B.A. Lampman lives and works in beautiful Victoria, BC, Canada. She enjoys painting, collaging, pouring ink across paper, taking photos, singing, reading, blogging about whatever strikes her fancy, and eating cheese. She enjoys high art and low art, fine and commercial. She has recently completed a web design course and can now be found staring for long hours at the computer screen, discovering new ways to build and create.

Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you.

Elusive Muse is really inspired by the work of today’s featured muse, Jit Chowdhury. I especially love his orange ‘Rubberband sketchbook’ and would just love to see it in person.

Shelley Kommers is a Los Angeles-based artist and illustrator. Her artwork is collage-based, textured, and layered, with a cheeky, whimsical quality.
After studying Advertising at Art Center College of Design, Shelley applied her skills to illustration, clothing design, and graphic design. Eric Standley is an associate professor in the School of Visual Arts in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech.

Standley’s artwork is truly cutting edge, with layer upon layer of intricately laser-cut sheets of paper forming a rich, colorful, and detailed whole. He is a pioneer in the techniques used to create his art, which recently started an international buzz with art collectors, blogs, and media, including Wired Magazine UK, Metaal Magazine Netherlands and Discovery Canada.

Jared Muralt was born in 1982 in Bern, Switzerland. Though he attended art school for one year in Bern, Muralt is primarily self-taught, and he developed his precision and skill through the careful study of books as diverse as those pertaining to anatomy, art history and comics. Muralt is also co-founder of BlackYard studio, a Swiss illustration and graphic design agency that was honored with Bern’s Advancement Award for Design in 2009.
